Downtown Anchorage, AK Real Estate
Downtown Anchorage is located six miles northeast of Anchorage International Airport, and is home to the central business district of the municipality. This district is also one of the four historic districts of the municipality, where the first “tent city” was established in the early 1900s. Continuing to experience growth throughout the years, today the Downtown Anchorage real estate market is limited by the land available in downtown proper; however, a shift into commercial establishments in response to the rise of tourism means that Downtown Anchorage real estate is still rife with investment opportunities.
Rich in heritage buildings dating back to when the city was first established, Downtown Anchorage real estate has retained the “frontier” town feel while the city has transformed into a modern metropolis. The district hosts the Anchorage Fur Rendezvous festival, the largest winter festival in North America; also boasting a plethora of hotels, pubs, galleries and museums, tourists are naturally attracted to the Downtown district, making Downtown Anchorage real estate hot commodities.
Downtown Anchorage is served by several major chain hotels, along with many restaurants and shops that provide all the basic amenities one might want. Nightlife is also rich in the downtown district; bars and pubs that are within walking distance to the downtown core provide a lively scene for party-goers. If the busy and noisy way of city life is not for you, this district also has abundant green space for one to relax and forget about the stresses associated with the daily grind.
